Educational & Civic Events

Educational Events

The Lexington Brass Band likes to present Master Classes when it travels, and has done this on a number of occasions. Additionally, the band has sponsored several All-Star groups, including an All-Star Trumpet Choir for Philip Smith’s second appearance with the band, and an Honors Brass Choir for the band’s 10th Anniversary. The band has worked with and presented joint concerts with several local high school bands, including Franklin County HS Band, and Tates Creek HS Band. The band supported and joined the latter’s performance at the 2002 KMEA Conference concert. Beginning with the 2006-07 season, the band will annually feature a brass section from a local high school.

Civic Events

Among highlights of the band’s community service events is the Annual Mayor of Lexington’s Tree-lighting Ceremony in Triangle Park. Additionally, the band has played at civic and community events Lexington, Nicholasville, and other area communities. These range from July 4th celebrations, to Rotary Club concerts, to special celebrations in Lexington, Nicholasville, and Frankfort, including in 2005 and 2006 appearances of an ensemble of the band at the Kentucky Historical Society.
