Concert #1: Heroes and Patriots
11.01.2009
With Veteran’s Day just around the corner, we offer a musical extravaganza in salute to our troops, past and present. In the process we’ll profile some notable, symbolic heroes. Bruce Broughton’s exciting American Hero, and Jim Cheyne’s moving And They Were Heroes represent some of the repertoire, as well as Stephen Bulla’s Armed Forces Salute, first written for the U.S. Marine Band. Your spirit will be stirred and your heart uplifted!
Concert #2: ‘Tis the ‘Festive’ Season
12.06.2009
Mark Ridenour of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra will be our featured guest soloist in our annual holiday concert. Festive is the right word for the day, and Shostakovich’s Festive Overture heads the bill, followed by some great Christmas music, always best when played by brass!
Concert #3: A Brass Valentine
02.14.2010
After all, it is Valentine’s Day, so join us for some real Romance in Brass, with both sentimental and up-tempo classics from the big band era, great film music, and other heart-moving tunes that will get you “In the Mood”!
Concert #4: Equestrian Brass
04.11.2010
All Lexington will be horsing around as we approach the World Equestrian Games. Join us for our own cavalcade of brass band music dealing with the horse. You’ll love exciting overtures like Light Cavalry and The Bronze Horseman. Galops, marches, and dances abound in this salute to the noble horse. The icing on the cake will be guest conductor, Ronald Waiksnoris (New York Staff Band), one of America’s finest brass band leaders. Saddle up!
