Concert #1: The Music of Bruce Broughton
Sunday, November 5th
One of world’s finest composers of film music will be our guest conductor and composer—Bruce Broughton. He recently received an unprecedented 10th Emmy Award for his score to the HBO film Warm Springs, and he has received multiple academy award nominations for such great films as Silverado, Tombstone, Miracle on 34th Street, Young Sherlock Holmes, and a host of other great films. Broughton’s roots are in the British brass band scene, and he has composed spectacular music for this medium. His wife, Belinda, outstanding professional violinist, will be joining him on the concert, both with Bruce as accompanist, and with the band in a possible new work written especially for this concert. Don’t miss this outstanding opportunity to meet one of America’s best composers!
Concert #2: ‘Tis the Season
Sunday, December 3rd
Our annual holiday concert has been an area favorite and this year will be no exception. Come enjoy the widest range of seasonal music, both for brass and for choir. Several area school and church choirs will join us to add to the celebration. This is a concert sure to put you in the festive mood.
Concert #3: Baroque Brass—Ensemble Brass
Sunday, February 18th
From Gabrieli and Frescobaldi to J.S, Bach and Handel, much Baroque style music is ideally suited for the modern brass band. This concert will be a festival of large and small brass ensembles, including Lexington Brass Band’s smaller groups that will be competing at the North American Brass Band Association’s ensemble contest in April 2007. We will launch a new feature in presenting an area high school’s brass section, this year being the Tates Creek High School Band Brass.
Concert #4: 15th Anniversary Concert!
Sunday, April 15th
We celebrate our 15th year with a spectacular gala concert that will include two of America’s finest brass soloists: Douglas Yeo, Bass Trombone of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Terry Everson, Professor of Trumpet at Boston University, and former principal cornet of the Lexington Brass Band and former Principal Trumpet of the Lexington Philharmonic, as well as professor of trumpet at UK. You’ll have to hear it to believe it—this is one not to miss!
