Concert #1: Silver Screen Brass
11.04.2007
We open our season with a great array of cinema classics, stretching from the 1930s to the present, from The Wizard of Oz to that latter-day young wizard, Harry Potter. So much great music from Hollywood is dominated by exciting brass sounds, therefore we revel in this kind of program that is sure to lift the roof, and send you out with a broad smile for having enjoyed a great hour of exciting, dynamic music from the silver screen.
Concert #2: ‘Tis the Season
12.02.2007
On our popular, annual holiday concert the outstanding Concert Choir of Asbury College, a group that performed at the National Cathedral, Washington, D.C., last April, will join us. The choir will not only sing solo, but will combine with the band for some beautiful Christmas and seasonal music.
Concert #3: Romantic Brass
02.17.2008
We will offer up Romantic brass with a capital R, also celebrating St. Valentine’s Day at the same time. Immerse yourself in the lush, warm, dramatic sounds of nineteenth-century Romanticism, with music by Mendelssohn, Berlioz, Wagner, and others. Once again, true to our mission to promote developing brass musicians, we will be featuring once again some outstanding high school brass musicians on this program.
Concert #4: Americans We!
04.13.2008
Patriotic blowout might be a good phrase for this spectacular finale concert. Trumpet and cornet virtuoso Vincent DiMartino returns to our stage for some thrilling items, while at the same time we will be completing our new compact disc with the good professor. So, enthusiastic flag-waving, great marches by Sousa and others, patriotic selections, and a tour-de force display of brass technique will make this a concert not to be missed!
