Percussion
John Willmarth is an active performer, composer, author, and educator in the central Kentucky area. He is Director of Percussion and Jazz at Lafayette High School as well as a private instructor at Don Wilson Music Company in Lexington. John has served as a percussion consultant to high schools across the country and as a clinician for Bands of America, the Yamaha Corporation of America, and the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at the University of Kentucky where he teaches drumset. As a performer, John is a member of the Dimartino/Osland Jazz Orchestra, the Raliegh Dailey Trio, and the Tandem Percussion Duo. John is a former member of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps where, in 1995, he helped to lead the corps to its second DCI title as section leader of the drumline. His compositions and arrangements are published by Innovative Percussion and Drop6 Media, Inc. As an author, John has contributed articles to Percussive Notes and Bluegrass Music News. John is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a BM in Music Education and the University of Iowa with an MA in Percussion Performance. He is an artist with Innovative Percussion and Evans Drumheads.

John Brumfield is a native of Lexington, Kentucky and holds a B.A. in Music Merchandising. He studied percussion under Rob James at Eastern Kentucky University. John has performed in many ensembles including the Star of Indiana’s production of Brass Theater. While performing with Brass Theater he played alongside such music greats as The Canadian Brass and the percussion group Nexus. Some of the venues Mr. Brumfield has preformed in include The Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, Tanglewood, and Wolftrap. John currently resides in Lexington with his wife Amanda and is employed in the insurance and financial services industry.
