David W. Goins

David W. Goins is a performer, conductor, arranger, composer, and educator living in Frankfort, Kentucky. He holds degrees in Music Education and Sacred Music from the University of Kentucky, attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and did postgraduate work at the University of Louisville.
A trumpet player by trade, David has primarily been known as the soloist with Saxton’s Cornet Band, a recreation of a mid-nineteenth century brass band that existed in Lexington from the 1860’s until 1915. As the leader of this organization, he has traveled all across the United States performing at concert halls, music festivals, and living history sites and has recorded four albums with the ensemble.
In 2018, David founded the Wesley Academy of Music, a non-profit organization established to provide free music lessons to underserved children in the Frankfort, Kentucky community. To date, they have served over 3,000 private lessons to over 150 children in the Frankfort community.
David is married to Meredith (Cook) Goins, a trained music educator and professional copyist, and together they have three wonderful children, a goofy dog, and a grumpy cat.
